Hi,
My name is Manveer Kharaud and I am currently finishing my Business Administration- Human Resource Management diploma at Sheridan College, Davis Campus.
My career goal is to eventually become a Human Resource Manager, particularly at Canada Border Service Agency, where I currently work as a Student Border Service Officer (Immigration).
I am preparing to reach this goal by completing my Human Resource Management diploma in hopes of being considered when there is an opening for a Human Resource position within CBSA.

My Recent Business Process
A business process I recently have participated in is the purchase of a coffee at Tim Horton's.
Four components of the business process:
Activities: Payment, in order to obtain my coffee, I must pay the cashier who will then record the order, charge, and payment method in his/her cash register.
Resources: Would have to be me as a customer, the suppliers who supply me the coffee (Tim Horton's) and the workers who serve it.
Facilities: Would include the location, the equipment used to prepare food/drinks, cash registers, etc.
Information: When I am served, the cashier punches everything into the register. This not only tells me what I owe, but it also tells the company how much inventory they have, and how much they will be needing.

My Favourite Sustainable and Disruptive Technologies
My favourite sustainable and disruptive technologies would be my laptop and my cellphone.
My laptop is a disruptive technology that I use on a daily basis. I say it is disruptive because growing up, my mother had a type writer, and she would teach my brother and I how to type. So, having a typewriter and a laptop at home is a big change in our home. Needless to say, the typewriter- although in very good condition- is collecting dust on the box it is tucked away in!
My cellphone is definitely a sustainable technology. I say it is sustainable because back in the day we had telephones (phones at home), then cordless phones (phones you can be more mobile with within your home), and now, cellphones (a phone you can use anywhere!). I got my first cellphone when I was 17 in 2003 and now, could not imagine life without it.

My IS Day
My IS day includes the use of my cell phone (LG Shine, which I use not only as a cell phone, but as an alarm clock first thing in the morning) and the use of a laptop (Toshiba, which is used for music when I am getting ready).
My LG Shine cell phone as an alarm clock in the morning has the following IS components:
1.Hardware
The hardware is the actual cell phone, LG Shine.
2.Software
The software is the program it uses to have its many functions, the one I take advantage of every morning is the alarm clock.
3.Data
It uses its data, time, to identify and sound at the particular time I need to wake up.
4.Procedures
This would include entering the time I need the alarm to go off, and making sure the sound on the cell phone is on.
5.People
The alarm is more for personal use on a day to day basis, the only people that it involves is me.
My Toshiba laptop has the following IS components:
1.Hardware
The hardware is the actual laptop, Toshiba.
2.Software
The software is the program it uses to have its many functions, the one I particularly use is Windows Media Player to listen to music when I am getting ready for my day.
3.Data
The data it uses is my song playlist at random.
4.Procedures
This would include turning on the laptop, entering my password to access programs and sometimes the Internet.
5.People
When I am getting ready, I am usually alone, but occasionally my mother walks in, or sister in law, so, in my house, music can be heard by anybody who is around it.

My Personal Goal
My Employment History
My employment history truly reflects my skills and knowledge I posess. I was blessed to never have an odd job! My first job was when I was 16 years old, I was a Cosmetician at Shoppers Drug Mart. I have come a long way in the cosmetics industry and enjoyed it thoroughly. In May 2007, I landed a job at Canada Border Service Agency after I joined the Federal Student Work Experience Program. This program is set up for students seeking government jobs. Lucky for me, I was able to start the process for potential employment, and eventually got hired.

My Educational Achievements
My educational achievements include the completion of many prerequisite courses to obtain a Human Resource diploma. Before Sheridan College, I was attending York University for a Human Resource Management degree. After York went on strike in 2008-2009, I decided to transfer to Sheridan College, where I was given advanced standing in the courses I had already taken for the Human Resource program. My decision was based on the fact that I wanted to advance into my career as soon as I could, and felt York would have held me back from accomplishing my goal. I will be finished my program Fall 2010.
